Padmashri Arunimasinha ,The conqueror of Pain and Sufferings- An inspirational story of the Adventurous Women.
1.Arunimasinha Introduction
- Arunimasinha is a Mountain climber, Adventurous women, a Motivational speaker and a former Indian Volley ball player. She was the first physically challenged women to climb the Mount. Everest(which was the tallest peak in the world. she climbed many highest mountains like Mount .Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Mount. Elbrus (Russia), Mount Kosciusko (Australia), Mount Aconcagua (South America), Carstensz Pyramid (Indonesia) and Mount Vinson.
2.Early Life and the Incident
- ArunimaSinha was born in Ambedkar Nagar near Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Her father was an engineer in Indian Army and her mother was a supervisor in health department. She had an elder sister and a younger brother. Her father died when she was 3.She played for india as a volley ball player.She got place in Paramilitary forces through Sports quota and she received a call letter from the CISF(CENTRAL INDUSTRIAL SECURITY FORCE). BUT the sad thing is that ,she didn't know that the travel is going to be the turning point of her ife.On 12th April 2011 she boarded in train in lucknow station to attend the CISF examination. After some few stations left a group of Robbers were boarded in that train and they were plundering the travelers precious belongings ,when robbers came to her she resisted them and the robbers throw her out of the train. Remembering the incident she said” I resisted and they pushed me out of the train. I could not move. I remember, a train coming towards me. I tried getting up. By then, the train had run over my leg. I don't remember anything after that’’. While she recounting “ I still feel sick of the incident and I wonder, how I am able to survive in that worst night”. While she was injured a train passed over her leg so she was not able to move and after some time a person rescued her and admitted in the hospital and the doctors removed her leg and attached a prosthetic leg.
3.Overcome the Pain
- In an interview, in a weakly magazine she said to the reporter” while I was in the AIMS ,I was shocked to hear that ,hereafter I can’t able to play volley ball . I didn’t think this incident going to be a full stop in my life and I searched for another chance . I abled to hear the cricket player Yuvraj singh who battled from the cancer, able to play cricket again and more incidents made me to move towards my goal”. And more she said” I was excited to learn swami Vivekananda’s quotes and teachings that made me to move towards my goal and my role model was Bachendri pal, first Indian women to climb the mount everest”. Her mother motivated and helped her to achieve her goal.
4.Setting the feet in High
- She excelled in the basic mountaineering course from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi.once she sharing her experience” Blizzard blows heavily before Everest travels. when my travel guide said that we want to postpone our travel ,I strongly denied and I had hope to reach the Everest. On seeing my determination , they believed me. I remembered that, "death is experienced by everyone who are born in this world ,at anytime. so ,I left it to the god ,whatever happens. while I was climbing, the prosthetic leg slipped ,so I adjusted and I tried and then finally I achieved and I reached the top of the world”. That gives her hope to climb many highest mountains in the world. Women should learn from her life, how to achieve and her life is an example for the physical and also the mental strength of women. She reached it in 12 th may 2013.
5.Life and achievement after the Great leap
- Government of Uttar Pradesh honored her in a function arranged in the Chief Minister's house .she climbed many peaks in the different continents and she climbed Mount.Vinson in Antartica and become the world’s first physically challenged women to reach the top of that peak. She wrote the book "Born again on the mountain", launched by Prime minister of India in December 2014. She was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India, in 2015 by president of India and at the same year she got Arjuna award for mountain climbing.
- Arunimasinha An inspiration to Modern Youth
- Even though she lost her leg she became successful through her hardwork, dedication and determination and modern youth must learn from her and especially women. In an interview she said” Today’s youths must set their goal and keep on working till they achieve it and I proud to be an Indian and All must be proud to say that I am an Indian”.
